Remember a couple posts back when I showed you these pom pom flowers...well I told you I HAD to make them. And I did!
I made different sizes by alternating the number of fingers I used to wrap the yarn around. Some 2, some 3 and some with my whole palm. I got covered in fuzz (wool yarn) but it was worth it.

A few months back, while pondering my new purple bedroom, my old wedding ring quilt with no colors close to matching purple and the upcoming heat of the summer...I had an idea.
I mentioned to my mom (who can sew where I cannot) that a quilt would be an amazing birthday gift for me. It would come at the perfect time, before the heat of summer really stikes. She said she would make me one! I was so excited. She got the colors that I wanted and I even picked out a fat quarter sample with all the colors I wanted in it for her to refernce.
But as the months went on, she never mentioned it again.
I had given up on the whole thing and really didn't expect it...I was already poking around the web for one to buy, with no luck (thank goodness). I had even made other suggestions for gifts and fully expected to be getting one of those.
Well I was wrong! At my B-day BBQ my Mom surprised me with this amazing quilt she made. It is wonderful! So soft (she picked out very soft muslin for the sleep side) and cozy. There's love in every stitch and it makes for very sweet dreams!

My pal Lauren of goody-goody and now Tid Bit Bake Shop made me these incredible chocolate cupcakes for my birthday! Look at the colors! Look at those flowers! Amazing. And to top off the gorgeousness...they were friggin delish! Soooooo good. They went quick!
I'm so glad that she took some pictures, because they were gone before I could take any and I was so sad, because I wanted to remember them!

I might be obsessed with this show. Vampires + camp + dumpster sex = True Love for True Blood. No one actually bought this for me, but I took my $31 of birthday money and trucked it down to Wally World and bought it for myself!
I've already blown through the whole thing (thank you non-existent summer tv) and am salivating for the new season to start on June 14th. Party at my house!
I had a birthday over the weekend. I am now the ripe old age of 31.(shhh don't tell)

Woot! My husband surprised me with this after everyone was gone (since he didn't wrap it and also, kept forgetting he hadn't given it to me yet (thanks tequila).
It was the perfecto present for me because, as you may know, I LOVE smoothies and am getting the itch to experiment with fresh juices not commonly available in stores...like cantaloupe and kiwi, you know fun!
Today was my first test run with it and I juiced a mango and a peach, threw in some of my Mangolicious frozen fruit blend from TJs, a couple strawberries, some frozen pineapple, 4 ice cubes and 1/2c plain yogurt.
Holy yummy! I can really taste the fresh juice and it is soooo good.
Just one thing...the mango i juiced didn't smell like I expected it to. Not bad like it wasn't good to eat, just not sweet like I expected...kinda pukey. But it tasted good, so hells bells, who knows?
This has been a crazy week! I released "i <3 mushrooms 2.0" and I started my annual "May Sale".
I've crocheted 9 mushrooms, 1 fuschia Big Blue and a new dolls that looks like Big Butie, only with arms and a face, sorta. (sneaky peeky) Still not sure if I'm going to release this pattern...But I think it's super cute and I <3 stripes!
So I decided to snap a shot of the doll shelf in my office which is positively overflowing with dolls! (cept the sock monkey was not made by me).
Tomorrow is my birthday party (even though the 24th is my actual birthday) and I get a break from crocheting for a day. But next week I'll be crocheting up stuff for my Demo at Maker Faire!! So exciting and scary!

After a late night at Second Saturday Art Walk, we slept in this morning and headed out around noon to hit the monthly Sacramento Antique Faire with our pals the Guess' of Little Brown Box for an afternoon of treasure hunting.
We brought the wagon so the kids didn't have to walk the whole time...I was surprised at how long they lasted in that thing together. And Audrey loved it! So cute!
I totally scored! I got this awesome wall-mount phone for $15!!!! (don't tell anyone, but it doesn't work, but I don't care, we don't use the landline anymore anyway)
I also got this super cute fawn figurine for $2 and a super fun bracelet for $1!! I also got another figurine for a dollar, but I didn't like how the picture came out, so next time...
When we got home I relaxed while the hub attempted to grant my wish of a clean house, but we didn't quite get there. I think my laziness was catching! No, actually he did quite a bit of work...too bad it was all in the out of doors instead of cleaning inside of the house.
We detoured to give Jackson his summer haircut...free for us, trauma for him! Spot the tear...tragic.
Then I had the brilliant idea to go to Wally World and stock up on $5 cheesy chick flicks to watch this week while I crochet my butt off in prep time for Maker Faire...don't laugh!

This weekend was the annual Antique Fair in Folsom, CA and Jaymi of Little Brown Box and I decided to leave the kiddies with the hub and hit the booths in search of vintage awesomeness!
It was sooo hot and I got a nice little sunburn, but it was sooo worth it. They blocked off the whole of Old Town Folsom for the event, which was packed, and there were at least 100 vendors there.
I was on the hunt for cute vintage jewelry (my new "hunt for" item) and pyrex, of course. I hit paydirt!
Above you'll see part of my take! Two pairs of super cute vintage earrings and an awesome enamel brooch that I'd like to turn into a pendant or a hair clip...something. In the meantime, I'll just HAVE to wear it as intended. boo hoo.
Also, a set of 60's style flower coasters and a funky blue serving spoon all for $3!. The potholder has a cable knit owl on it. $1!
I scored this fabu square-shaped blue pyrex bowl for $10. I have a matching red one with a lid, so I might mix and match the lid with this one. Red and blue...lovely!
I also got a beautiful yellow doil...but I forgot to take a picture...sooon!
While we shopped the kiddos played at my house with my hub and I can't resist...
Yesterday I had a fun playdate with Jaymi of Little Brown Box. We hung out at the Folsom Zoo with our little ones in tow.
Jackson and her little one had a blast together once they warmed back up to each other. They had a great encounter with a deer, saw a family of baby chicks and rode the train!
when the hub went out to get dinner for his family. In a darkened parking lot, the worst case scenario occurred! A man backed his wife's prized Acura into the car my husband and child were riding in!
What a pain! Now my car has a big boo-boo and who knows when we'll get it fixed. I hope quickly!
When the Billy came home I yelled at him for taking 45 mins to bring home dinner, he told me he'd had an accident and I laughed...I thought he was joking! But when my 3 year old came in and said that "The man crashed into us and it went BOOM!", I knew it was the truth.
I gasped when I saw the damage.
But the other party admitted fault and we have the same insurance company, so I expect it should all go smoothly on our end.
Just a big bummer. (do people still say bummer?)
